Earl Porter

Senior Consultant

Mr. Porter is a Chemical Engineer whose 40 year professional career has involved a broad range of engineering management projects. As a start-up engineer for Bechtel Power, he developed and implemented procedures, demonstrations, schedules, and training programs for coal fired generating plants, and was responsible for all water treatment and chemical controls at several generating stations. Mr. Porter was also responsible for supervision of engineers, vendor representatives and craftsmen during plant start-up. For several years he coordinated maintenance planning and scheduling at various steam electric stations, and while working for Nuclear Services Corporation, he was responsible for plant systems completion tracking, system walk-downs, as-built verification, outage planning, and computerized scheduling.

After eight years of assignments involving plant testing, and planning & scheduling, Mr. Porter formed a project controls consulting firm, Systems Coordination, Inc., where he directed all activities for the company. A major landmark for Systems Coordination was development (1979) and marketing of the world’s first commercial CMMS system, an NRC compliant version still in use at several Nuclear Power stations and numerous industrial facilities. Mr. Porter divested and retired from Systems Coordination Inc, (aka Champs Software Inc.) in 1991.

For the last twenty years, Mr. Porter has done consulting in the areas of maintenance organizational development, computerized maintenance, and preventative/predictive maintenance strategies and procedures. Mr. Porter has also established complete turnkey Preventive Maintenance procedure systems at several chemical, manufacturing, food, and pharmaceutical facilities, including Schering-Plough, AKZO Chemical, Aera Petroleum, Sanofi Aventis, US Gear, Imperial Sugar, and Wells Dairy.

Mr. Porter graduated with a B.S. Chemical Engineering, from New Mexico State University and in the ensuing 40 years, has attended and presented various management and technical courses. He has established himself as a leader in PM / PDM Technologies, and maintenance & reliability strategies for complex industrial equipment.
