Greg Folts, CMRP


Mr. Folts is an experienced manager of continuous improvement having gained his knowledge first-hand directing improvement initiatives for an aerospace bearing supplier, MRC Bearings. These initiatives included responsibility for implementing TPM, 5S, lean production, setup reduction, Six Sigma and ACE initiatives in a 1000 employee, union factory.

As TPM Coordinator and Facilitator, Greg developed implementation plans, steering committees, area coordinators, machine standards, TPM procedures, training plans and coordinated the implementation of TPM. He has conducted over 100 TPM initial cleaning events and facilitated implementation of a new CMMS system. In addition, Mr. Folts conducted over 30 Kaizen events in the areas of setup reduction, 5S, business process implement and flow at facilities in the US, Germany and Italy.

Prior to Mr. Folts' managerial experience, he worked as a mechanic/electrician giving his the "in-the-field" knowledge and experience to understand all aspects of the manufacturing industry. His experience included electrical repairs, hydraulic system repair, bearing replacement and preventive maintenance. He was responsible for repair and troubleshooting of all equipment related to production which included CNC, PLC, relay logic, general electrical construction and automated storage and retrieval systems. As a AAA electrician, his experience included preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC controlled lathes, mills and grinding equipment; preventive maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of PLC equipment and installation of PLCs on equipment during machine upgrades. Greg also had the responsibility of design, purchase and installation of a direct numeric control (DNC) system. This was used to download part program files directly from computers to CNC controlled equipment, replacing "punched tape" readers.

Mr. Folts has achieved the ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) standing from ITO University, has a Six Sigma Black Belt from General Electric/Motorola University, as well as training in the Toyota Production System by Shingijutsu (Sensei Ninno and Sensei Oba). He has had formal training in various processes including Lean Production Train the Trainer from Pratt and Whitney; TPM Train the Trainer, with Marshall Institute; and TPM (Schwienfurt, Germany) from SKF. Also to his credit, Greg has completed Kaizen event training from General Electric, Improving Material Flow with Lean Manufacturing from New England Supplier Institute, as well as various trade school accreditation.

Mr. Folts' also has attended Jamestown Community College where he completed such courses as computer integrated manufacturing, introduction to robotics, programming fundamentals, PLC programming, general psychology and business law.
