Maintenance Effectiveness Survey

Determine the effectiveness of your maintenance operation by using Marshall Institute's Maintenance Effectiveness Survey. Maintenance organizational efficiency depends upon many interdependent variables. Some of these include: organizational structure, goals and objectives, communications processes, policies and procedures, work processes (methodologies) and employee systems. Maintenance organizations function at three major levels: organizational level (functional and structural relationships), process level (work activities) and job performer level (individual worker). The presence or absence of these variables impact all levels.

Many of the organizations we work with have few incompetent people but rather incompetent systems. As the maxim goes, "If you throw a good performer into a bad system, the system will win every time." You can also turn it around to say, "Fix the system and you fix the performer."

The purpose of a Maintenance Effectiveness Assessment is to determine where the maintenance organization's strengths are to leverage improvements and identify areas of opportunity to correct. It provides a view of the structure, relationships, processes and people relative to good maintenance practices. This survey is the first step in an overall assessment and improvement process.
